Established in 2022 by Dr. Peace Tamuno and Stacey Neilson, Lakes Cardiac Clinic brings together a wealth of experience acquired over 50 years in various hospitals, both in New Zealand and internationally. Rest assured, your health is in the hands of seasoned professionals who have demonstrated excellence in the field.
To access our services, a referral from your GP is required. Once we receive the referral, a member of our team will promptly reach out to you to schedule a consultation and any necessary tests. Consultations take place at Southern Cross Hospital Rotorua, while diagnostic tests are primarily conducted at Rotorua Hospital. If you are unsure about which site to attend, please clarify with the team.

Stacey has been working in the cardiac technical field since 1999 when she started as a trainee at the original, Greenlane Hospital. After qualifying as a Cardiac Physiologist at the end of 2001, she spent the next 9 years of her career focusing on heart rhythm management - Pacemakers and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (ICDs) and Electrophysiology testing. In 2007 she took a Team Leader role at Waitemata DHB and was instrumental in the opening of the pacemaker service. In 2011 Stacey switched gears into cardiac ultrasound (Echocardiograms) and graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma of Cardiac Ultrasound in 2014, she stayed concentrated in echo until 2017 when she became the Team Leader at Lakes DHB where her role includes service management, echo and heart rhythm management. She is dual registered with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) as a Cardiac Sonographer and the Clinical Physiologists Registration Board (CPRB) as a Cardiac Physiologist.
Stacey is involved in her profession nationally and internationally in advocacy roles with professional societies. She is also busy completing her Research Masters investigating cancer therapy related cardiac dysfunction in our New Zealand population.
Dr Peace Tamuno graduated from medical school in Donetsk, Ukraine in 1995. In 2000, he moved to the UK where he trained in the NHS and obtained the MRCP qualification, and a post graduate certificate in clinical education at Leeds University. He relocated to New Zealand and joined the dual (Cardiology/General Medicine) training programme

Dr Tamuno currently works as a Cardiologist/ General Physician, and is the clinical lead for Cardiology at Te Whatu Ora Lakes. He is experienced in the assessment and management of a wide range of cardiovascular pathologies, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias. He has particular interest in non-invasive diagnostic cardiac imaging, and is accredited with the Australasian committee for CT coronary angiography.
Cathy has been working doing lung function testing since 2004, starting at Greenlane Hospital, then working at Starship Hospital and in private, followed by 10 years at North Shore Hospital, before moving to Rotorua and working at Rotorua Hospital and occasionally at Tauranga Hospital. She is a registered Respiratory Physiologist with the

She is also a sleep physiologist, with a background in physiotherapy before her move to lung function testing and sleep physiology.
